Hyderabad: Man Dies by Suicide After Assault by Fiancée’s Kin

Hyderabad: A 21-year-old tiffin centre owner died by suicide after being assaulted and threatened by a relative of his fiancée at Afsar Khan Colony, under the Langer Houz police station limits. The victim, Mohammed Rehman Khan, was attacked by Abdul Waseem of Golconda around 10.30 am on Tuesday. Waseem reportedly threatened Rehman, warning him not to meet his fiancée, Shas.

According to the police, Rehman confided in his elder brother, Rizwan, about the assault and mentioned that he was heading home. On Tuesday night, after having dinner, Rehman died by suicide in his bedroom.

Before his death, Rehman had told his mother, Rizwana Begum, and sister, Nausheen, that he felt deeply insulted by the beating and was contemplating either killing Waseem or ending his own life. Later, Nausheen left for her husband’s house and tried calling Rehman, but when he did not respond, she contacted Rizwan. Rizwan broke into Rehman’s bedroom and found him hanging.

Rehman and Shas were in love and had decided to marry with their parents' consent. The wedding was planned for this year, according to the police.

Following the incident, Rehman’s body was transferred to the OGH hospital morgue for post-mortem. Based on a complaint filed by Rizwan, the police have registered a case of abetment to suicide under Section 306 of the IPC against Waseem and have reportedly taken him into custody on Wednesday.
