10 Pontiffs from Karnataka's Backward Classes Rally Behind CM Siddaramaiah

BENGALURU: As many as 10 pontiffs of various religious institutions connected to backward classes in Karnataka expressed their solidarity to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday.

The seers met Chief Minister in Bengaluru and held a discussion with him over the prevailing political developments in Karnataka particularly after Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot granted sanction to prosecute Chief Minister in alleged irregularities in plot distribution to Parvathi, CM’s wife by Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in Mysuru city.

“By way of their solidarity, the seers have sent across a clear message to the society,” termed the Chief Minister after the meeting in Bengaluru. The delegation of seers included Niranjanandpuri Mahaswamji of Kanaka Peeta, Kaginele, Shanthaveera Mahaswamiji, Kunchitaga Mahasamsthana Matha, Hosadurga, Immadi Siddarameshwara Swamiji, Bhovi Gurupeeta, Chitradurga, Basavaramurthy Madachannaih Mahaswamiji of Madara Channaiah Gurupeeta, Chitradurga, Purushothamanandapuri Mahaswamiji of Bhagirathi Peeta, Madhure and Eshwaranandapuri Mahaswamiji of Kanakaguru Peeta, Hosadurga.

The delegation also included Renukananda Mahaswamiji, Narayan Gurupeeta in Shivamogga, Basava Machideva Mahaswamiji of Madiwala Gurupeeta in Chitradurga, Annadani Bharathi Appanna Swamiji of Hadapada Appanna Gurupeeta Tangadagi in Koppal and Shantammaiah Swamihi, Saroor Vijayanagar.

The Chief Minister thanked the religious seers for their support to him especially when he is waging a legal battle against grant of sanction for prosecution against him given by Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot over Later, Chief Minister took to his social networking account to post his gratitude the seers and stated “Though it is a political struggle but infcat it is an attempt by vested interests against a backward leader.”

Adding, he said “Some vested interests are keen to sideline me in politics so that a voice against social justice is snubbed.”
