Actor Darshan Provided Commode Chair Due to Health Issues in Prison
BALLARI: Actor Darshan, currently in judicial custody at Ballari Central Prison, was provided with a commode chair on Monday evening due to health issues.
The Ballari prison cells, where he is presently located, only have Indian-style toilets without commodes. Darshan, who suffers from a spinal condition, had requested prison authorities to provide a commode chair for his condition.
Sources told Deccan Chronicle that the authorities, after receiving Darshan's medical report and following a recommendation from an orthopedic specialist, approved the request. The chair was provided to Darshan on Monday.
Darshan has been in judicial custody for over two months, facing charges in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy, in which he is the second accused (A2). Initially, he was held at Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara prison.
A controversy erupted after a photo of Darshan drinking coffee and smoking a cigarette, and a clipping of him making a video call, went viral. In response, authorities transferred various individuals connected to the case to different prisons. Darshan was relocated to Ballari prison on August 29 as part of these transfers.
