Belagavi Gears up for Centenary Celebrations of 1924 Congress Session

Belagavi: As Belagavi gears up for the centenary celebrations of the historic 1924 Congress Session, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the importance of reviving Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology through year-long programs across Karnataka.

Siddaramaiah who landed in Belagavi on Wednesday reviewed the preparations for the centenary celebrations.

Speaking to the media at the Belagavi airport today, he said events including the Congress Working Committee meeting on December 26, the unveiling of Gandhiji’s statue near Suvarna Soudha, and a public meeting on December 27 are held as part of the centenary celebrations.

Responding to a question about whether the Congress session would mark a phase of transformation for the party, Siddaramaiah remarked, “Change is a continuous process. The conditions that existed a hundred years ago are no longer present. Political changes and developments continue to occur.”

Responding to the egg-throwing incident on MLA Munirathna, Siddaramaiah stated, “There is no clear information yet about who was responsible or which party they belong to. The police are conducting an investigation into the matter.”

When asked about the suspension of a police officer in connection with C.T. Ravi’s case, the Chief Minister said, “The officer was suspended for permitting a BJP meeting inside the police station. It is inappropriate to allow political party meetings in police stations.

Reacting to MLA C.T. Ravi’s complaint against the government to the Governor, Siddaramaiah said, “C.T. Ravi is trying to cover up his mistakes through such actions. The CID is investigating his case, and appropriate action will be taken once the report is received.”
