BJP Yuva Morcha to Stage Rasta Roko Over Delay in Action Against Ivan D’Souza
MANGALURU: Expressing dissatisfaction over the delay in police action against MLC Ivan D’Souza for his controversial statement, the Dakshina Kannada unit of BJP Yuva Morcha has announced plans to launch a Rasta Roko on Wednesday, along with pursuing legal action.
"Following Ivan D’Souza’s controversial statement, we lodged a complaint with the police. Despite assurances of taking legal action, the police have failed to register a case even after several days. We had initially planned to gherao the police station, but officials assured our senior leaders that the case would be filed. However, they have not kept their promise, forcing us to resort to protests," Yuva Morcha district president Nandan Mallya stated during a press conference.
He added that, in consideration of the Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, the protest would commence on August 28 to avoid causing inconvenience to the public.
"On Wednesday, we will hold Rasta Roko in all assembly segments," Mallya said.
Mallya also mentioned that the BJP Yuva Morcha is consulting with advocates regarding legal options.
"We are in discussions with legal experts to determine whether to file a case in the district court or approach the High Court," he added.
