Cable operator, GESCOM booked in Kalaburagi electrocution incident

A case has been registered against a cable operator and Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company (GESCOM) following an incident on Monday where a live electric wire caused injuries to a woman.

The victim, Bhagyashree, suffered burns from the electric shock and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The incident occurred near Old Jewargi Cross under the jurisdiction of the Station Bazar Police Station.

Sources revealed that a school bus transporting children with intellectual disabilities was parked when a cable wire, in contact with an electric line, fell onto the vehicle. Bhagyashree, accompanying her son to board the bus, was electrocuted upon touching the vehicle due to earthing. Fortunately, no children were injured.

City Police Commissioner Dr. Sharanappa S.D. and other officials inspected the site. Authorities confirmed that a case has been filed against the cable operator and GESCOM for negligence.
