‘Change party president', BJP MP asks national leaders

Before chalking out future course of action considering his political career is concerned, the former minister said to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi shortly and bring to their notice the happenings in Karnataka BJP unit since he joined the party 5 years back quitting the Congress party

BENGALURU: State Bharatiya Janata Party president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra on Wednesday came under criticism over his style of functioning from his party leader and Chikkaballapura Lok Sabha member Dr Sudhakar who urged national leaders “either to change State BJP president or make him (Vijayendra) mend his ways.”

Before chalking out future course of action considering his political career is concerned, the former minister said to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi shortly and bring to their notice the happenings in Karnataka BJP unit since he joined the party 5 years back quitting the Congress party.

At a press conference in Bengaluru, Sudhakar expressed displeasure over appointment of new District unit president of Chikkaballapur unit and termed the appointment of a new president for Chikkaballapura unit as unilateral decision taken by Vijayendra.

Sudhakar accused Vijayendra of leading BJP to the brink of extinction in Karnataka by snubbing political careers of leaders such as former ministers-C.T. Ravi, Ramesh Jarkiholi, Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and former chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

“My tolerance level crossed its limits,” said Sudhakar and accused Vijayendra of not having time to attend his phone calls or courtesy to reply to his messages. The BJP MP said, BJP national president J.P. Nadda was quick to fix appointments with him but not Vijayendra to discuss party matters.

He said the appointment of new District president for Chikkaballapura unit should have happened as per party Constitution and internal democracy but Vijayendra is acting like a “monarch” in the party. He questioned Vijayendra “Is the party your property?”

He threw a challenge at Vijayendra and asked him to make party nominees win in Chikkaballapur, Kolar and surrounding districts where BJP has no base and termed “Chikkballapur and surrounding districts are barren lands for BJP.” He accused Vijayendra as “arrogant.”

Sudhakar accused Vijayendra of no match to his father and former chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa in taking leaders into confidence.
