BENGALURU: After a short term gap, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), a subsidiary of the State Government, resumed supply of ghee to Tirumala, a popular Hindu pilgrim centre in Andhra Pradesh famous for Lord Venkateshwara temple. The ghee supplied by KMF under its brand name "Nandini" will be used for making laddus (Srivari prasada) by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday flagged off a ghee laden tanker to Tirumala, a popular Hindu pilgrim centre in Andhra Pradesh, to be used in the preparation of laddus. The special ghee made from cow milk with Agmark tag is supplied by Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF).
The KMF initially will initially transport 350 metric tonnes of ghee from Karnataka to Tirumala as per tender for 2024-25. From 2013-14, KMF supplied as many as 5,000 metric tonnes of special ghee to Tirumala.
Meanwhile, sale of Desi Cow Ghee manufactured by Bangalore Rural and Ramanagar District Co-operative Milk Producers Societies Union Limited (BAMUL) was launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The Desi Cow Ghee is sold under brand name “Nandini” by Bangalore Milk Federation. The Desi Ghee is manufactured from milk derived from indigenous cow species such as Sahiwal, Gir, Amrut Mahal and Hallikar.
While a litre of Desi Cow Milk costs Rs 57.85, ther Desi Cow Ghee is sold at Rs 900 for half a litre and it costs Rs 400 for 200 ml. Initially, Desi Cow Milk and Desi Cow Ghee will be sold online and through e-commerce.
A release stated consumption of Desi Cow Ghee may improve heart health and also bone health, it is rich in vitamin A, E, D and K to boost immunity, gut health and aids in digestion, the ghee is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and brings glow to the skin.
