Coastal Karnataka sees sharp rise in temperatures
After the intense heat in North Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka districts are now witnessing a sharp rise in temperatures, with several locations recording above 39 degrees.

Mangaluru: After the intense heat in North Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka districts are now witnessing a sharp rise in temperatures, with several locations recording above 39 degrees.
As on Feb 25, the highest temperature in the state in the last 24 hours was reported in Savantvada Hobli, Uttara Kannada district, where the mercury soared to 41.3 degrees.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that heatwave conditions are likely to persist in Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada districts for the next three days.
According to the KSNDMC weather monitoring network, 6 locations in Uttara Kannada district, 4 locations in Dakshina Kannada district, 2 locations in Udupi district and 1 location in Raichur district recorded maximum temperature above 39 degrees in the State.
In Uttara Kannada, Savantvada Hobli recorded 41.3 degrees, followed by Honnavar at 40.7 degrees, Mirjan at 40.4 degrees, Ghadasaya at 40 degrees, Baagod at 39.8 degrees, and Mavinakurve at 39.7 degrees. In Dakshina Kannada, temperatures remained high with Sullia-1 Hobli recording 40.6 degrees, Uppinangady Hobli at 40.4 degrees, and Puttur-1 and Pane Mangalore at 39.7 degrees. Udupi district also saw a sharp increase in temperatures, with Kundapur recording 40.4 degrees and Ajekar 40.3 degrees, while Gurgunta in Raichur recorded 39.3 degrees.
The IMD has reported that temperatures were significantly above normal, ranging between 3.1 degrees to 5 degrees higher in isolated places over Coastal Karnataka and 1.6 degrees to 3 degrees higher in North Interior Karnataka, while the rest of the state saw near-normal temperatures within the range of -1.5 degrees to 1.5 degrees.
