Congress to Stage Statewide Protest Against Governor’s Sanction for Prosecution of CM Siddaramaiah
BENGALURU: The Congress party will stage a protest across Karnataka on Monday at 11 am against the Governor's grant of prosecution against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over alleged irregularities in plot allotment in Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Friday appealed to workers and leaders from gram to taluk panchayat level to take out a foot march for about a km and submit a memorandum to President Draupadi Murmu through officials concerned against the grant of prosecution of Chief Minister.
“As you are aware of the conspiracy against the Chief Minister, it is our duty to stage a protest against the prosecution,” he appealed to his party men on a social networking site.
“The party is ready to wage a legal battle against the prosecution sanction but it is necessary to stage protest against the misuse of Governor’s office (by BJP and JDS),” said the KPCC Chief and stated a “Big conspiracy has been hatched against Siddaramaiah to remove from the post of Chief Minister besides to stop 5-guarantee schemes of the State Government.
Shivakumar called upon his party men to send a signed petition to the President against the Governor’s decision to sanction prosecution of the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, Congress workers and followers of Siddaramaiah staged protests in Mysuru, Bengaluru, Ballari among other parts of the State against Governor’s nod for prosecution of the Chief Minister.
