BENGALURU: A battery attached to an electric scooter on charging exploded resulting in the death of a 65-year-old person at Murphy Town in Bengaluru city on Tuesday at around 3 am. The deceased is identified as Lourd Nathan, an auto-driver.
Police said Lourd Nathan had put the electric scooter on charging mode and slept. He had put his vehicle in charge at around 11 pm.Lourd Nathan had put his vehicle on charging in the ground floor of his house while his son Frank Anthony was at the first floor when the battery exploded, resulting in a blaze and engulfed the ground floor.
Frank rushed to the ground on hearing the explosion and discovered his father seriously injured. The injured was rushed to Bowring Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police registered an unnatural death case and investigations are on to find whether vehicle’s battery failure led to the explosion or technical reasons.
