Goods Train Derails in Braganza Ghat, Major Disruptions to Rail Services

Mangaluru: A goods train with 17 loaded wagons derailed between Sonalim and Dudhsagar Stations in Braganza ghat section of Hubballi Division on Friday at 9.35 am.

In response to the incident, Accident Relief Trains equipped with 140-ton cranes and other essential materials were dispatched from Vasco Da Gama and Hubballi to the derailment site. A specialized restoration team has been deployed to manage the situation and initiate recovery efforts, according to a press statement.

Senior railway officials, including General Manager Arvind Srivastava, Additional General Manager K S Jain, and Principal Heads of Departments, are closely monitoring the situation. Hubballi's Divisional Railway Manager Harsh Khare, along with other senior officers, rushed to the site to supervise the ongoing restoration work.

As a result of the derailment, several trains have been either diverted or cancelled. The following trains are affected:

Diverted Trains:

Train No. 17420/17022 Vasco Da Gama – Tirupati/Hyderabad Weekly Express (Journey commenced on Aug 09) is now running via Madgaon, Karwar, Padil, Subhramanya Road, Hassan, Arsikere, Chikjajur, Rayadurga, and Ballari before resuming its regular route.

Train No. 12779 Vasco Da Gama – Hazrat Nizamuddin Express (Journey commencing on Aug 09) has been diverted to run via Madgaon, Roha, Panvel, Kalyan, and Pune before returning to its usual path.

Train No. 12780 Hazrat Nizamuddin – Vasco Da Gama Express (Journey commenced on Aug 08) is diverted via Pune, Kalyan, Panvel, Roha, and Madgaon before resuming its regular route.

Train No. 11097 Pune – Ernakulam Jn Poorna Express (Journey commencing on Aug 10) is diverted to run via Panvel, Roha, and Madgaon before resuming its usual route.

Cancelled Trains:

Train No. 17309 Yesvantpur – Vasco Da Gama Express (Journey commencing on Aug 09).

Train No. 17310 Vasco Da Gama – Yesvantpur Express (Journey commencing on Aug 09).

Short Terminated/Originated Trains:

Train No. 18047 Shalimar – Vasco Da Gama Express (Journey commenced from Shalimar on Aug 08) is short terminated at SSS Hubballi instead of Vasco Da Gama and is partially cancelled between SSS Hubballi and Vasco Da Gama.

Train No. 18048 Vasco Da Gama – Shalimar Express (Journey commencing on Aug 11) will originate from SSS Hubballi instead of Vasco Da Gama and is partially cancelled between Vasco Da Gama and SSS Hubballi.
