Kalaburagi: A newborn baby was abducted by two women posing as hospital staff at the Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) on Monday.
A woman from Chincholi Taluk delivered her baby at the hospital during the early hours of Monday. In the afternoon around 3 pm, two women disguised as hospital staff took the infant and fled the premises.
Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage to trace the kidnappers. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Kalaburagi City Police Commissioner Dr Sharanappa SD stated that four special teams have been formed to track down the suspects.
Minister for Medical Education Dr. Sharanaprakash Patil visited the hospital to console the distressed parents. He collected a detailed briefing on the incident and instructed police officials to expedite their investigation and take immediate action.
GIMS Director Dr Umesh SR, City Police Commissioner Dr Sharanappa SD and others were present.
