Hight court observation on a petition that no money laundering in MUDA plot allotments applies to entire case, says CM

The Chief Minister stated “Where is the evidence of money laundering in MUDA plot allotments?” and termed the ED seizure report of being “politically motivated.”

BENGALURU: Regarding his name appearing in the seizure report of Directorate of Enforcement (ED) report on the alleged money laundering in plot distribution irregularities in Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA), Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday referred to the High Court of Karnataka observation on a petition of then MUDA Commissioner Natesh that “No money laundering has taken place in connection with plot distribution irregularities and the High Court observations are applicable to entire MUDA plot allotment irregularities allegations.”

Speaking to reporters in Mysuru, the Chief Minister stated “Where is the evidence of money laundering in MUDA plot allotments?” and termed the ED seizure report of being “politically motivated.”

Referring to the High Court observations to a petition of then MUDA Commissioner Natesh, Chief Minister said Natesh moved the High Court in connection the searches conducted by sleuths of ED at his residence, notice served on him and asking him to appear before the ED and the then MUDA Commissioner Natesh moved the High Court over the actions of ED and the HIGH Court allowed his petition besides stating that notice to Natesh by ED and its actions were “wrong.”

Siddaramaiah alleged ED of trying to “politicise” the MUDA case “deliberately” and exuded confidence that “They will not succeed in their efforts.” Besides, his wife B.M. Parvathi has been served notice by ED officials twice and the High Court stayed the notice while refraining ED from questioning her. Continuing, he said, “A serious attempt is being made to tarnish my image.”

Directorate of Enforcement (ED) is investigating plot distribution of alleged irregularities in MUDA to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife B.M. Parvathi in lieu of her losing 3.16 acres in Kesrae in Mysuru taluk to MUDA. To compensate for Parvathi losing her 3. 16 acres, MUDA allotted her 14 plots in a posh locality in Mysuru city.

The allotment of 14 plots to Parvathi by MUDA came in for questioning by social activist Snehamayi Krishna. He petitioned the Governor seeking prosecution of the Chief Minister and the High Court asked the plot allotments to CM’s wife be investigated by Lokayukta, Mysuru wing. ED registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) and took up parallel investigation in the MUDA case.
