Home minister offers to resign to spend time with his voters of Koratagere

BENGALURU: Not able to find enough time to interact and mingle with party men of his Assembly seat, Koratagere, Minister of Home Dr G. Parameshwar offered to resign from the post of Minister to spend time with people of the Assembly seat and in response to the Minister’s statement his followers wanted him to continue as the Minister of Home. Koratagere is a reserved seat for Scheduled Castes in Tumakuru district.

He said, “Time is the culprit and if you wish I’m ready to tender resignation tomorrow itself” to which the audience stated “no.” Reacting to the reaction of the gathering, Parameshwar stated “(After resignation) I will be with you (always). In the meantime, a person in the audience stated “You should become Chief Minister.”

A video clip of the Home Minister, said to be a couple of days old, speaking at a party workers' meeting in Koratagere was circulated in public on Sunday. The video clip is said to be recorded by a party men/supporters who was at the venue when Dr G. Parameshwar made the statement.

In the clip, while addressing the gathering at ‘Rajeev Bhavan,’ Parameshwar said “Earlier we used to meet at regular intervals and whenever occasions came across. But, nowadays, such an atmosphere has not been happening.”

Continuing, he said, “I used to visit every Panchayat offices' and visited households to sip tea/ food. I used to put my arms around the neck of supporters and click for photographs. Now, it has become difficult for me to engage with the people of the constituency like earlier when I was an MLA.”

Parameshwar said “Now I am a Minister and you people would be a little disappointed that I could not speak to or visit the panchayat office. I too have the feeling I should have visited and stayed in close proximity with the party men/supporters. But I'm a Minister not just an MLA.”

The Home Minister recalled his defeat in previous Assembly elections and stated “I am aware of how you have turned against me.”
