Hubballi: BJP Targets Congress Over Women’s Reservation Bill

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi accused the Congress of being against weaker sections, women and OBCs.

Hubballi: Launching a sharp attack on the Congress and the INDIA bloc, BJP leaders on Friday accused them of opposing the women’s reservation Bill and doing injustice to women, while asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has prioritised women’s empowerment.

The BJP leaders had gathered to participate in the ‘Bruhat Janakrosha Mahila Pratibhatana Sabhe’ organised by the BJP Mahila Morch.

Addressing the event party state president BY Vijayendra said the “injustice” meted out to women by the Congress and its allies must be highlighted repeatedly.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recognised the crucial role of women in nation-building and has taken steps to empower them.

Vijayendra said the BJP has always stood by women and would continue to do so, citing initiatives taken during former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s tenure, including the Bhagyalakshmi and bicycle schemes.

He also called upon party workers and supporters to participate in the ‘Abhimanotsava’ of Yediyurappa scheduled in Chitradurga on May 9.

Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai expressed confidence that the Women’s Reservation Bill would be implemented by 2029 under Modi’s leadership.

“Party workers must go door-to-door and politically corner the Congress and its allies who had opposed the move. Crimes such as murder, extortion and sexual assault had increased under the Congress government in Karnataka,” he said.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi accused the Congress of being against weaker sections, women and OBCs.

He alleged that the party promotes only members of the “Gandhi family” for leadership and called for its rejection.

Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje dismissed concerns over the proposed delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies, stating that southern states would not face injustice and would instead gain additional seats. She accused the Congress of spreading misinformation and alleged that parties in the INDIA bloc were attempting to create division.
