Kalaburagi: DC Orders Intensive Anti-Dengue Drive Following Floods
Kalaburagi: To combat the spread of dengue, Deputy Commissioner Fouzia Taranum has instructed officials to conduct a comprehensive larval survey and eliminate mosquito breeding sites in all schools, Anganwadis, and hostels across the district within the next three days.
Chairing a District Disaster Management Authority meeting on Friday, the DC emphasized the urgency of proactive measures by the health department to prevent potential outbreaks of infectious diseases, particularly following the recent floods. She also mandated monthly medical check-ups for hostel inmates.
"In areas where dengue cases were prevalent in July and August, CHC and PHC doctors must visit schools, Anganwadis, hostels, and villages to raise public awareness. Along with destroying mosquito breeding sites, ensure that water does not stagnate to prevent the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes. Clean the water tanks in schools and hostels," Taranum stressed.
The Deputy Commissioner also urged municipal zonal commissioners to prioritize cleanliness in Kalaburagi city. "Clean up black spots and ensure public and market traders understand the importance of not dumping waste. Violators causing cleanliness issues should be fined as per SBM rules," she instructed.
Additionally, Taranum directed the DHOs, RCHOs, and DLOs to organize dengue control awareness programs in every zone. She advised municipal environmental engineers to seek assistance from other departments for these initiatives.
The meeting was attended by Zilla Panchayat CEO Bhanwar Singh Meena and other senior officials.
