Kalaburagi: Six life-term prisoners released for good conduct

The release was carried out following a Government Order dated November 20, 2024, and a directive from the Director General of Police, Prisons and Correctional Services. The prison's Standing Advisory Board reviewed the inmates’ files and recommended their release

Kalaburagi: Six life-term prisoners, including five men and one woman, who served 14 years of their sentences at Kalaburagi Central Jail, have been released in recognition of their good conduct.

The release was carried out following a Government Order dated November 20, 2024, and a directive from the Director General of Police, Prisons and Correctional Services. The prison's Standing Advisory Board reviewed the inmates’ files and recommended their release. The recommendation was forwarded to the Karnataka government and Principal Office in Bengaluru for approval, leading to the issuance of a release.

The release process was overseen by the Principal District and Sessions Judge of Kalaburagi, the Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, the Deputy Inspector General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Northern Zone, Belagavi and Chief Superintendent of Prisons, presented the release certificates to the inmates.

The officials provided guidance for their reintegration into society.

According to the authorities the released are Sabanna (Prisoner No 19574), Khajasab, (Prisoner No. 19212), Shivashankar alias Shivappa (Prisoner No. 19488), Ravi (Prisoner No. 540), Jaibharat (Prisoner No. 19336) and Abida Begum (Prisoner No. 252).
