Karnataka: Congress Leaders Slam Guv Over Prosecution Approval Against CM Siddaramaiah

Mangaluru: Senior Congress leaders and cabinet members in Karnataka have sharply criticized the state's Governor, accusing him of acting as a political agent of the BJP. The backlash comes in response to the Governor's decision to grant prosecution permission against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, a move that Congress leaders claim is politically motivated and aimed at destabilizing the government.

Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre condemned the Governor's decision, describing it as an attempt to undermine the elected government. Khandre called on the President of India to dismiss the Governor immediately, arguing that the Governor's actions were influenced by political pressure and were part of a broader conspiracy against the Congress-led administration. He warned that the BJP, which he accused of lacking faith in democratic principles, is trying to topple elected governments across the country, posing a significant threat to democracy.

Khandre further alleged that the BJP leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, had manipulated the Governor to erode Siddaramaiah's popularity and destabilize the Congress government in Karnataka. He pointed out the contrast between the swift action taken against Siddaramaiah and the pending prosecution requests against other political figures, suggesting a clear political bias.

MB Patil, Karnataka's Large and Medium Industries Minister, echoed Khandre's concerns, accusing the Governor of transforming the Raj Bhavan into a de facto BJP office and acting as a puppet of the Central Government. He also criticized the Governor's involvement in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scandal, labeling it as part of a larger BJP conspiracy.

Patil questioned the Governor's motives, noting that despite the Chief Secretary providing appropriate information, the Governor hastily issued a notice to Siddaramaiah. He highlighted the neglect of other pending prosecution requests and condemned the BJP's ongoing political maneuvers in Karnataka, likening them to tactics employed in other states.

"The allocation of alternative plots to Siddaramaiah's family occurred during the BJP's tenure, with their leaders present at the MUDA meeting. The conspiracy to scapegoat Siddaramaiah is condemnable," Patil asserted.

The Congress leaders' statements underscore the escalating political tensions in Karnataka, as they accuse the BJP of using constitutional offices to further its political agenda.
