Bengaluru: Even before one could forget the MUDA scam, another worth crores of rupees has come into light in Karnataka.

In a latest revelation, it was found that Covid funds of crores of rupees were misappropriated.

According to ustice John Michael Committee report, a few important documents relating to the funds are missing.

The Congress government led by Siddaramaiah is readying to discuss the scam that took place during the BJP rule.

Siddaramaiah is already facing allegations regarding involvement in the MUDA scam. In the past, the Mysore civic body had acquired lands in the name of Siddaramaiah's wife for development. In compensation, it had allocated sites in Mysore and Vijayanagara. The BJP is alleging that MUDA had handed over valuable lands to Siddaramaiah, following nominal orders. In the meantime, a report on the irregularities during BJP leader and former CM Yeddyurappa's rule was submitted.

According to sources, Siddaramaiah had already discussed the report in the Cabinet and identified some key issues.

There is information that in that meeting, Siddaramaiah had stated of misuse of hundreds of crores of rupees and several important documents missing from government offices.

During Covid, Karnataka received Rs 13,000 crore towards relief but that amount has not been mentioned anywhere. From this amount, Rs 1000 crore is reported to be embezzled.

The John Michael Committee submitted the draft report and is likely to submit the final after six months from now.

When the media tried to link up MUDA Scam with the Covid fund misappropriation, law minister HK Patil reminded that charges regarding the MUDA scam came to light only a couple of months ago. "The John Michael Committee was formed a year ago. How can you compare both the issues," he asked.
