Yadgir: In a tragic incident, four people lost their lives and seven others were injured after being struck by lightning in Jinakera Tanda, about 15 kilometers from Yadgir district headquarters, on Monday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Kishan (32), Channu (22), Sumibai (28)—all from the same family—and Jnanesh (17). The injured include Lakshmi (12), Sunibai (25), Manappa (27), Namanna (55), Ganesh (7), Darshan (8), and Meerabai (32). All injured were immediately rushed to the hospital, with Ganesh being transferred to Kalaburagi for further treatment.
The incident occurred around 4:30 PM when a group of individuals working in an onion field sought shelter in a nearby temple as rain and thunderstorms began. A sudden lightning strike claimed the lives of four and injured others.
A case has been registered at the Yadgir Rural Police Station. Thundershowers were reported across Yadgir and surrounding areas on Monday.
