Mangaluru: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said that the Karnataka government has decided to implement an integrated healthcare system that will provide both allopathic and Ayurvedic treatments under one roof at district and taluk hospitals.

Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the upgradation of the government Ayurvedic hospital in Jokatte under the National AYUSH Mission on Monday, Rao, who is also the district in-charge minister of Dakshina Kannada stated that currently, allopathy and AYUSH hospitals operate separately. To make both medical services available at one location, the government is considering reserving specific beds for AYUSH treatments in district and taluk hospitals.

As part of this initiative, the Jokatte Ayurvedic Hospital has been sanctioned two doctors and six paramedical staff. The minister urged residents of the surrounding areas to make use of the hospital’s services.

Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian presided over the event.
