Karnataka HC Reviews MUDA Case Involving Siddaramaiah
BENGALURU: The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday asked Lokayukta Mysuru wing to submit in its next hearing posted on November 26 the status of the investigation conducted so far against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his wife B.M. Parvathi among others in connection to the plot allotment irregularities in Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in Mysuru city.
On Tuesday, writ petition filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna came up for hearing in the High Court wherein he sought transfer of First Information Report (FIR) registered at Lokayukta, Mysuru office to the sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The High Court served notices on all respondents.
Vasanth Kumar, advocate representing petitioner Snehamayi Krishna, said the Special Court exclusively to deal with criminal cases against MPs/MLAs, Bengaluru ordered Lokayukta Mysuru to conduct investigation but a month after the Lokayukta began its investigation it seems to be unfair.
Continuing, he said, Lokayukta served notice on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for questioning on Monday taking into account that the writ petition seeking transfer of investigation from Lokayukta to CBI was coming for hearing on Tuesday. He termed the notice to CM as an “eye wash.”
The advocate said Lokayukta is under the State Government and doubted that its report on alleged irregularities in plot distribution to CM’s wife would be “unfair.” Only an independent agency such as CBI or Enforcement Directorate (ED) would bring out the truth and the report of CBI would be fair and acceptable to all.
On Lokayukta investigation so far, the advocate said, it has been observed that sleuths of Lokayukta have not considered original documents yet in its investigation or consulted the petitioner.
The advocate of the petitioner exuded confidence that the High Court would order transfer of the MUDA plot distribution case against CM and his family members to CBI.
