Karnataka Minister Pushes for Expedited Housing for the Poor and Resolving Waqf Issues

BIDAR: Housing, Minorities Welfare and Waqf Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan has directed the Slum Development Board to expedite the construction of houses for poor families.

This announcement came during a review meeting in Bidar on Tuesday.

During the review, Khan stressed the importance of maintaining quality and ensuring that the 3,497 houses being built by the Slum Development Board are well-equipped with basic amenities.

The Minister also reviewed the status of houses allotted by the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation.

Speaking about the Waqf Adalat, which processed 197 petitions on Monday, he set a one-month deadline to resolve petitions. He urged officials to act promptly on both new and existing applications, warning of actions for delays.

Waqf Board Chairman Anwar Bhasha highlighted the significant backlog in surveying Waqf properties, calling on the DDLR and ADLR to expedite the survey process.

He noted that over 1,000 Khatas are not updated in the municipality and stressed the need for timely resolution of pending applications across the district's taluks.

Deputy Commissioner Govinda Reddy assured the minister that all applications related to Waqf properties received so far have been cleared. He assured that the issues discussed in the meeting would be resolved within the next one to two months.
