Kharge urges Siddaramaiah to open NIMHANS branch in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge has called on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to prioritise education and healthcare in the Kalyana Karnataka region by establishing branches of NIMHANS and the Institute of Diabetology in Kalaburagi. Kharge also urged the government to support Gulbarga University with funds, staff recruitment, and new departments to enhance higher education opportunities.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new building of the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research in Kalaburagi, Kharge highlighted the challenges faced by residents of the region, who often travel over 1,000 km to Bengaluru for advanced medical care.

Kharge commended the efforts of CM Siddaramaiah and Sharan Prakash Patil in establishing Jayadeva Hospital, which he noted also marks a decade since the implementation of Article 371(J). He emphasized the need to improve access to education and healthcare to address the region's backwardness, calling for more institutions to follow the example set by educational pioneers like Mahadevappa Rampure.
