BENGALURU: An undated photograph of jailed actor Darshan Togudeep with a beverage mug and a cigarette in his left hand chatting with his friends including a rowdy sheeter inside the garden area of Parappana Agrahara Prison in Bengaluru city went viral on Sunday. The actor has been in judicial custody since June this year in connection with a murder.
Sources attributed the photograph of Darshan with a tea mug, cigarette was shot by someone inside the Prison before it went viral. As per the photograph circulated on social networking sites on Sunday, Darshan was all smiles chatting with his friends identified as Wilson Garden Naga, his Manager Nagaraj and another person's identity was not established immediately. Darshan and his friends had seat arrangements for chatting inside the Prison garden.
Darshan is in judicial custody in connection with the alleged murder of Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga district in Karnataka, along with his girlfriend Pavithra Gowda and 11 others.
Reacting to the photograph, Bharatiya Janata Party MLC N. Ravikumar sought action against Prison officials and personnel catering to the needs of the actor in Prison and suspected their involvement to help the actor assess all he needs by sitting inside the Prison.
Ravikumar wanted to know from the Minister for Home Dr G. Parameshwar whether the actor is lodged in a ‘Prison’ or staying at a ‘Palace?’ “It is a classic case of collapse of law and order in the State,” observed the BJP MLC.
While deceased Renukaswami’s father Shivanagouder told reporters for a detailed inquiry into the actor having access to tea, cigarette among others in the Prison and stated he was “hurt” by the attitude of Prison officials.
“I have faith in the police , otherwise a time might come where the deceased family will seek an investigation by the sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation,” he said and asked the State Government to initiate action to stop recurrence of such things inside the Prison.
