Lingayat Panchamasali Protest Demands 2A Reservation Clarity
Belagavi: Lingayat Panchamasali Seer Basavajaya Mrityunjay Swamiji announced that the protest demanding 2A reservation for the Panchamasali community will be held as scheduled on December 10.
“We will commence the ‘Panchamasali Sangharsha Samavesha’ at the venue in front of Suvarna Soudha premises at 10 am, and the program will continue until 1 pm. If the Chief Minister hands us the order copy granting the 2A reservation and the state’s recommendation to include us in the Central OBC list, we will facilitate him at the event. Otherwise, we will lay siege to Suvarna Soudha,” Swamiji told reporters.
He expressed disappointment over the restrictions imposed on the protest by senior officials but acknowledged the district administration’s assurance to withdraw the earlier order and permit the protest at the preferred venue.
“I urge community members to participate in the convention with the same enthusiasm as before. Please attend the program peacefully, without any arguments or confrontations with the police,” Swamiji appealed.
The Lingayat Panchamasali community has been demanding inclusion under the 2A category of reservation and has intensified its agitation to seek government action.
