He attributed the hike in prices of commodities/services by the State Government is to meet the 5-guarantees such as free travel for women in State owned buses, free power upto 200 units a family, Rs 2,000 cash benefit scheme for a female head of a family among two others.
The residents of Bengaluru city, he said, have been burdened a lot by the State Government and the residents are paying more property taxes than before while water and power tariffs have also gone up. “Even the Income Tax paid by the employees is high,” he stated.
Schemes such as Rs 2,000 cash benefit for a female head of a family has been deposited into the accounts of the beneficiaries by the State Government for about 5 months now. Besides, cash in lieu of additional rice for below poverty line card holders also has not been done which all indicate that the economy of the State has been affected, said Vijayendra.
