Mangaluru to Singapore: Air India Express Launches Direct Flights from January 2025

MANGALURU: Mangaluru is set to strengthen its international connectivity with the introduction of a direct flight to Singapore by Air India Express, starting January 21, 2025.

This will mark Singapore as the first Southeast Asian destination to be connected directly from Mangaluru, expanding the city’s international reach beyond the Middle East and Saudi Arabia.
In addition, Air India Express will start flights between Pune and Mangaluru from January 2, 2025, and between Mangaluru and Delhi from February 1, 2025.
"We are excited that Air India Express has announced new direct flights to three destinations from Mangaluru. The routes will enhance connectivity and support economic and cultural exchange between people in these regions. We look forward to welcoming passengers and offering them a seamless travel experience,” said a spokesperson for Mangaluru International Airport Limited.
The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has welcomed the development, noting that the new routes will boost tourism, education, and medical tourism, as well as foster trade ties in the coming years.
“This connectivity will ease travel for business and aligns with the Union Government’s Act East Policy, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to connect India with ASEAN and East Asian nations,” said KCCI president Anand G Pai in a statement.
“Singapore will be the first South-East Asian international destination to be connected from Mangaluru International Airport. All other international destinations connected from the airport thus far have been to the Middle East and Saudi. This was a much needed and awaited connectivity between Coastal Karnataka, the Malnad region of Karnataka, the northern parts of Kerala and Singapore,” he added.
