Minister Boseraju Pushes for Timely Completion of Dharwad Planetarium
Dharwad: Minor Irrigation, Science and Technology Minister NS Boseraju has asked the officials to complete the Rs 9 crore planetarium project at the Dharwad Sub-Regional Science Center within the stipulated timeline.
During his visit to the Dharwad Sub-Regional Science Center today, the minister was briefed by officials. The Dharwad Sub-Regional Science Center spans 24 acres, and efforts are underway to elevate it to international standards.
"A grant of Rs 9 crore has been allocated for constructing a state-of-the-art planetarium on the premises. Of this, Rs 4.5 crore has already been released, and the work is expected to begin within a month," Minister Boseraju stated.
The government is taking steps to establish science centers and planetariums across all districts of the state to benefit children.
"With the exception of Chitradurga, Vijayapura, and Ramanagara, the establishment of science centers is progressing in all other districts. Plans are underway to set up the centers in the remaining districts soon," he added.
Emphasizing the need to foster scientific thinking among students, the minister said that the department will organize science skill training programs in schools across the state.
Minister Boseraju also highlighted ongoing efforts to develop a Rs 200 crore Science City in Bengaluru, modeled after similar initiatives in Kerala and Gujarat, with the support of the Central Government.
