MP Brijesh Chowta Marks Diwali with Mangaluru Coast Guard
MANGALURU: For Brijesh Chowta, this Diwali—the first since he became a Member of Parliament—was both a trip down memory lane and an emotional return to his roots in service. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tradition of celebrating Diwali with armed forces, Chowta chose to celebrate the festival with the Coast Guard district headquarters at Panambur in Mangaluru on Friday.
After celebrating with constituents and party workers across his constituency on Friday, Chowta ended his evening by visiting the Coast Guard team in Mangaluru, where he shared sweets, laughter, and camaraderie under the open coastal skies.
“Spending time with these brave men, who protect Mother India day and night at the risk of their lives, brought back memories of my own days in uniform. It was an emotional experience,” Chowta said after visiting the Coat Guard.
"Since becoming the Prime Minister in 2014, Narendra Modi has celebrated Diwali each year with the soldiers guarding our borders, inspiring millions within our armed forces family. Following his example, celebrating my first Diwali as an MP with the soldiers who vigilantly protect our coastal borders day and night has been truly memorable," he added.
