Karnataka: Murder accused actor granted interim bail
BENGALURU: The High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday granted interim bail to murder accused actor Darshan Thoogudeepa for 6-weeks on health grounds for the actor to undergo treatment for his herniated disc. The disc bulge is said to have been troubling the actor since 2022, as per his advocate Sunil representing him in the case.
While granting bail to the actor, the High Court asked him to surrender his passport, submit medical reports within a week after his release among other regular conditions.
The actor is lodged in Ballari Central Prison. Earlier he was kept in Parappana Agrahara Prison in Bengaluru city and shifted after he was caught on camera with a tea mug, cigarette and engaged in chat with his friends inside Parappana Agrahara Prison leading to accusations that the actor was having access to comfort within the confines of the Prison.
Over the bail to the actor, Sunil, advocate representing Darshan, said they will strive to get regular bail for the actor while the actor on interim bail will decide on the hospital of his choice to undergo treatment for his bulged disc.
The actor was arrested by Kamakshipalya police of Bengaluru city in June on charge of his involvement in the murder of a Chitradurga resident Renukaswamy.
It is alleged Renukaswamy sent lewd messages to the actor’s girlfriend Pavithra Gowda and reportedly enraged over lewd messages to her, the actor along with associates manhandled Renukaswamy by ferrying him to Bengaluru city from Chitradurga.
In the assault on him, the victim succumbed to injuries and the body of the victim was discovered amongst garbage under Kamakshipalya police limits.
