Opposition Parties Vow To Dislodge Congress Government In Karnataka

Bengaluru: Opposition and alliance parties-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal Secular (JDS) leaders on Saturday termed the Congress ruled State Government as “corrupt” and vow to rout the Congress party out of power in Karnataka.

BJP and JDS leaders addressed the gathering at the valedictory of BJP-JDS padayatra (foot march) from Bengaluru to Mysuru city seeking resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over alleged scams in plot distribution by Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and fraudulent transactions in Valmiki Corporation. The padayatra began on August 3 from Kengeri near Bengaluru city.
In his address, Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel and State president of JDS H.D. Kumaraswamy asked the State Government to mend their ways in coming days or else the Congress ruled State Government would be removed from power at the earliest. He stated owing to the attitude of the State Government Toyota unit in Bidadi is shifting to Maharashtra.
Kumaraswamy stated the JDS-BJP would dislodge the State Government not out of “jealous” but to protect the resources of the State from being allegedly “looted” by Congress leaders. He suggested to the State Government to initiate talks with DMK government of Tamil Nadu over the proposed balancing reservoir across River Cauvery in Kanakapura and later he and Union Minister for Consumer Affairs Prahalad Joshi would take it up with the Union Government for clearance.
Questioning the contributions of Congress ruled State Government in Karnataka in the last 15 months of its rule, Kumaraswamy said “I can reveal hundreds of pages on illegalities and it will take hours and asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to speak on part 1 and part 2 of the Kempanna Commission report on Arkavathy layout in Bengaluru city.
He cautioned the Deputy Chief Minister “Don’t set your eyes on me. You will be destroyed” and challenged the State Government to conduct any investigation against him be it Janthakal Mining or the Sai Venkateshwara mining case.
BJP leader and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa challenged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to dissolve the Assembly and face fresh elections and exuded confidence the JDS-BJP alliance would bag as many as 140 seats.
The alleged “corruption” by Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister cannot be forgiven, he said and stated he would tour the State to bring down the State Government without minding his 82 years old.
State president of BJP and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra said the people of the State accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of being a “coward” by evading replies to the opposition parties during the recent monsoon Assembly session.
He wanted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to reveal murkier dealings in MUDA in Mysuru city and later on expose the alleged scams of opposition leaders. In coming days, Vijayendra said opposition parties would reveal the real face of Siddaramaiah who claims himself to be a socialist.
He asked Siddaramaiah to resign as Chief Minister by accepting “loot” in his government otherwise warned of intensifying fight against the Congress led State Government.
Leader of Opposition R. Ashok, Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha member Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar among others were present.
