Prajwal Revanna, the JD(S) candidate, who got embroiled in sexual assault case, lost Hassan seat in Karnataka. His defeat turned out to be a major setback for the JDS and former Prime Minister and party supremo HD Deve Gowda.
Though Prajwal maintained the lead during the first five rounds of the counting, he was overtaken by Congress candidate Sherayas Patel in the final rounds.
It was during the Lok Sabha election campaigning that allegations against Prajwal were surfaced and he went absconding. He returned to India on May 31.
