Bengaluru: A 26-year-old woman alleged rape on her by Somashekar alias Gym Soma who unsuccessfully contested Sakleshpura Assembly seat reserved for Scheduled Castes in Hassan as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee in 2018 and registered a complaint at Ashok Nagar police station in Bengaluru city on Tuesday.
The woman alleged that she came into contact with Somashekar through one of her friends and she approached Somashekar for financial help towards her wedding.
The victim alleged Somashekar took her from her paying guest accommodation in Bengaluru city to his flat on Langford Road on the assurance to give her the money she had asked from him in October last year. Instead of offering her financial help, Somashekar, she alleged that he made her drunk and then raped her. The woman is said to have asked Somashekar to lend her Rs 6 lakh.
Continuing, the women stated, Somashekar threatened her of dire consequences to kill her if she opened her mouth about the incident. Somashekar, the victim alleged, also warned to ruin her reputation if she spoke to others about the incident and to circulate her private photos and videos.
Fearing Somashekar, the victim said to kept silent and did not bring the matter to the notice of the police though the alleged rape on her took about three months back. However, she filed a complaint with the Ashok Nagar police and police have begun an investigation.
Meanwhile, Somashekar is absconding after the victim filed a police complaint of rape against him. Search is on to trace Somashekar.
