Deve Gowda Warns Grandson Prajwal Revanna in Stern Letter

Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister and national president of Janata Dal Secular (JDS) H.D. Devegowdaon Thursday asked his ‘hiding’ grandson Prajwal Revanna, a Lok Sabha member representing Hassan seat, charged with rape, sexual abuse among others to surrender to the police and face trail and also issued a stern warning that if he does not heed to the appeal then he will face family isolation.

The appeal from Devegowda to Prajwal comes after he has been issued a Look Out circular, a Blue Corner notice and two notices by the investigating officers of Special Investigation Team under section 41 A CrPC. The State Government has constituted a Special Investigation Team under Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the allegations of sexual exploitation by Prajwal.

A couple of days back, his uncle and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy also had asked Prajwal to face the trial over his charges. It may be recalled here that Prajwal fled the country on a diplomatic passport on April 27 reportedly to Germany and since then he has been in ‘hiding.’

In a letter released to the media by Devegowda stated that people have used harshest words against him and his family in the last few weeks and said that he cannot convince people that he was unaware of Prajwal’s activities and also has no desire to shield him. Adding, Devegowda said, he cannot convince people that he was unaware of Prajwal’s movements and his foreign trip.

The letter from Devegowda stated that he or his family members will interfere in the enquiry against Prajwal and there is also no emotion attached to the case.

He added, “It is utmost importance to me to earn back the trust of the people. They have stood by me for over sixty years of my political life and I am deeply indebted to them. As long as I am live, I will never let them down.”
