Shivakumar could split Congress party in Karnataka, says leader of Opposition in Assembly
State BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra said “I observe rapid political developments in the State in coming days and the current infighting in the Congress party is an indication of the future developments taking place in Karnataka

BENGALURU: While, State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president B.Y. Vijayendra was non-committal on speculations of president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar joining the BJP but Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly R. Ashoka observed Shivakumar could possibly cause a split in the Congress party like the way Shiv Sena leader Ekanath Shinde did in Maharashtra, a couple of years back, to align with BJP and form the State Government.
State BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra said “I observe rapid political developments in the State in coming days and the current infighting in the Congress party is an indication of the future developments taking place in Karnataka.
In a separate press conference, Leader of Opposition R. Ashok, at a press conference in Bengaluru on Thursday, observed “There are leaders who could cause a split in the party and one among them is D.K. Shivakumar, aspiring to become Chief Minister.”
Ashoka said, the developments in Congress party is over his prediction that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah could make way for Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to ascend the post of Chief Minister. “I have fixed the auspicious time over change of Chief Minister in Karnataka that is on November 16 this year and all the developments currently happening are going on account of my prediction,” he said.
“It is a personal decision of Shivakumar to take a holy dip in Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj and later hold a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He had discussion with Union Minister of Home Amit Shah at ISHA Foundation (in Coimbatore of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday),” he said and left it to the Congress party to initiate disciplinary action against D.K. Shivakumar.
Ashoka said Congress leaders are causing obstacles for Shivakumar (to occupy the post of Chief Minister) and stated “Congress leaders like black cats are hurdles in his way and Shivakumar should take care of the black cats.”
The BJP leader said “BJP has nothing to do with the infighting in the Congress party.”
