Study for Bengaluru’s Second Airport Underway
Belagavi: The Infrastructure Development Department has entrusted IDECK (Infrastructure Development Corporation Karnataka) with the task of conducting a study and submitting a report on the proposal to establish a second international airport for Bengaluru, said Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development Minister MB Patil.
Responding to a starred question by MLC TN Javarayi Gowda in the Legislative Council today, the Minister stated that the study is considering several factors, including connectivity to the proposed airport through roads, rail, and metro, distance and travel time for users to reach the airport, availability of expansive land, types of land, and low-population-density areas and access to water resources.
Patil added that a detailed study is underway to identify potential sites that meet these criteria. Once the study is complete, a project report or proposal for the new airport will be prepared and reviewed.
