The Green School Bangalore Students Celebrate Raksha Bandhan by Tying Rakhis to Trees,

BENGALURU: Students of The Green School Bangalore (TGSB) on Monday celebrated Raksha Bandhan by tying rakhis around trees thereby creating a bond between them and trees around their school in Muthasandra in Varthur of Bengaluru city.

The programme of the School was part of their “Save Trees Save Bengaluru” campaign to increase the tree cover in the Bengaluru. The Green School Bangalore is a zero energy, zero carbon and zero waste school designed from the most organic materials available to support global sustainability in every way.

In their rakhi tying programme to trees, students tied rakhis specially hand crafted by them in various colours to as many as 100 trees. A student Aadhya Urs studying grade 6 at the school said “Our art and craft teacher guided us to create beautiful, big rakhis from recycled paper and waste. We used pista shells, pencil shavings, old fabrics and corn cobs to create the rakhis while Usha Iyer, Founder and Principal of The Green School Bangalore said “Through Raksha Bandhan event, we want to create awareness among people about protecting tree cover in the city.”

The students and faculty members of the School visited Muthasandra Government Hospital and the Panchayat Office and tied rakhis to wardens as a mark of respect for their selfless service being rendered by them.
