Bengaluru: A chopped body of a woman into as many as 30 pieces and stacked in a freezer was found in a flat near Veeranna Bhavan of Vyalikaval in Bengaluru city. It is suspected that the murder of the woman might have taken place about 5 days back and it came to light on Saturday when the deceased mother and her sister visited the house on Saturday.

The victim has been identified as Mahalakshmi (29) wife of Hemant Das. It is said Mahalakshmi was unreachable for a couple of days leading to suspicion. She worked in a garment shop in the city.

It is suspected that Mahalakshmi might have met a tragic death over infidelity. Police have taken the deceased's husband Hemant Das into custody for questioning.

On Saturday, the deceased's mother and sister visited the house of Mahalakshmi in Muneshwara block of Vyalikaval since Mahalakshmi was incommunicable to them. Her mobile phone was in switched off mode.

When the door of the flat was broken open, the deceased mother and sister discovered the chopped body of Mahalakshmi. They came across a severed head and limbs stacked in gunny bags and kept inside a 165 litre capacity freezer. Police were informed of the incident.

Mahalakshmi shifted to the one BHK flat in Muneshwara block in Vyalikaval about five months back and according to her neighbours Mahalakshmi’s brother stayed with her for some time thereafter she stayed alone at the flat.
