Zameer Ahmad Khan Addresses Waqf Property Issues in Dharwad Meeting

DHARWAD: Housing, Minorities Welfare, and Waqf Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan has issued a one-month deadline for the completion of khatha creation for Waqf properties in the Hubballi-Dharwad region.

He said this during a meeting with officials at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Dharwad on Monday.

Minister Khan stressed the urgency of protecting Waqf properties.

"Officials should take the matter of Waqf properties seriously. Steps should be taken to prevent encroachment and to protect these properties," he stressed.

As a significant step, khatha for 100 out of the 190 pending Waqf properties in the Hubballi-Dharwad region were handed over during the meeting.

Addressing concerns regarding Waqf properties in Uttara Kannada district, where disputes with the Forest Department have arisen, Minister Khan assured officials that a separate meeting with the Forest Minister would be held within 15 days to resolve the issue.

The minister instructed officials from the Minorities Welfare and Waqf departments to maintain consistent communication with other relevant departments, including the Municipal Corporation, Revenue, Zilla Panchayat, and Urban Development, to expedite the resolution of issues related to Waqf property accounts.

Minister Khan also directed Deputy Commissioners to act promptly on petitions submitted during the Waqf Adalats held in both districts.

The meeting was attended by MLC Abdul Jabbar, Waqf Board Chairman Anwar Basha, MLAs Konareddy, Aravind Bellad and senior officials.
