Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the districts of Idukki and Malappuram.
Additionally, a yellow alert has been declared for the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Kozhikode, and Wayanad for Monday.
The IMD forecast suggests that heavy rainfall ranging from 7 to 11 cm in 24 hours, and very heavy rainfall of up to 12 to 20 cm in 24 hours, is likely to occur at isolated places in Kerala until Wednesday. The IMD also stated that thunderstorms with lightning, accompanied by winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 km/h, are likely to occur at isolated places in the state until Thursday.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during the period for which the forecast has been issued.
As per the forecast for August 13, squally winds reaching speeds of 35-45 kmph and gusting up to 55 kmph are very likely along and off the south Kerala coast, as well as the adjoining Lakshadweep area, over the central west Arabian Sea, the central east Arabian Sea, and the southeast Bay of Bengal.
The weather forecast for August 14 and 15 indicates strong winds, with speeds expected to reach 35-45 kmph and gusts up to 55 kmph, are very likely along the south Kerala coast, nearby Lakshadweep area, central west Arabian Sea, central east Arabian Sea, south Bay of Bengal, and northwest Bay of Bengal. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas on the mentioned dates.
