Kerala bags two National Panchayat Awards
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj announced the recipients of the National Panchayat Awards for the year 2022–2023. Notably, Kerala has bagged two awards in two categories.
The awards recognize the exemplary efforts of Panchayati Raj Institutions across the country in driving inclusive and sustainable development at the grassroots level.
Perumpadappa in Malappuram district won the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar for its initiatives aiming at poverty free and enhanced livelihoods.
Kerala Institute of Local Administration secured the Panchayat Kshamta Nirmaan Sarvottam Sansthan Puraskar. KILA was bestowed the award for supporting Gram panchayats and building their capacity
This year 1.94 lakh Gram Panchayats participated in the competition. Of the 42 awardee Panchayats, 42% of them are Panchayats led by women.
The award ceremony will take place on December 11, 2024 in New Delhi where President Droupadi Murmu will present the awards to the recipients.
