Kerala CPI Reiterates Call for Probe Into ADGP-RSS Meetings
Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI, the second-largest ally in the CPM-led LDF Government, has reiterated its call for a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding a high-ranking police officer's meeting with senior RSS leaders in Kerala.
CPI state secretary Benoy Viswam stated that the meeting cannot be dismissed as routine and suggested that there is more to it than meets the eye.
CPI leader Benoy Viswam strongly criticized Assembly Speaker A N Shamsheer for defending the meeting between the police officer and RSS leaders. The Speaker had declared on Monday that there was nothing inappropriate about the ADGP's meeting with the RSS leaders. "Shamsheer should have refrained from making such a statement," Viswam remarked and added that such statements can lead to a lot of misinterpretation.
ADGP of Law and Order, M R Ajith Kumar's consecutive meetings with RSS leaders Hosabale Dattatreya and Ram Madhav have sparked significant controversy in the state, with the opposition alleging that the meetings were orchestrated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Opposition leader V D Satheeshan has accused an unholy alliance between the CPM and RSS in Kerala aimed at undermining the Congress.
