Kerala Health Minister Ensures Advanced Facilities for Sabarimala Pilgrims

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Health Minister Veena George has assured that top-notch health facilities will be provided for the devotees coming for the Sabarimala pilgrimage.

The minister made this statement while inaugurating a health department review meeting at Pamba, which was organized in view of the pilgrimage season. Hospitals have been equipped with special arrangements to cater to the needs of the devotees.

Konni Medical College has been designated as the dedicated hospital for Sabarimala within the district, equipped with 30 beds, including ICU and ventilators, and additional beds for emergency cases. Kottayam Medical College has also allocated beds for pilgrims.

Furthermore, all major government hospitals in the district have arranged beds and ensured the availability of medicines.

A 24-hour control center has been established at Pamba, offering the services of health workers proficient in various languages. A telephone system will be operational, connecting it with the district collectorate and government hospitals.

These measures will enable hospitals to be well-prepared for emergencies. Pilgrims with heart conditions or other chronic diseases are advised to carry their health records with them.

With the health center at Vadasserikara no longer on the Sabarimala route, doctor services will be provided separately along the way.

Retired health staff to provide voluntary health care services

Health Minister Veena has called upon health workers willing to provide voluntary healthcare services during the Sabarimala pilgrimage season.

Volunteers will be stationed at hospitals and healthcare centers in Sabarimala, Sannidhanam, and Pamba. This initiative is open to officials who have retired from the health department.

Voluntary health workers will be assigned to Konni Medical College, Pathanamthitta General Hospital, Pamba, Sannidhanam, and health service centers such as Nilakkal, Neelimala, Appachimedu, Charalmedu, and Erumeli.

This opportunity is available to individuals who have retired from the health department. Interested candidates are invited to submit their applications and relevant documents by November 11 to the email address dhssabarimala@gmail.com.

Apart from the health department staff, expert cardiologists and physicians from medical colleges will be assigned to various health centers. Additionally, the services of expert health workers will be made available.
