Kerala: IMD Forecasts Heavy Rains; Orange, Yellow Alerts Issued

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert with heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rainfall likely to occur over isolated places in Kerala on June 23.

The Met Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in the State on June 21, 22 and 24.
The IMD has issued orange alerts for Six districts which are Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kasargod, Palakkad, Wayanad and Kannur, while other districts have been issued yellow alerts.
Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod have been issued Orange alert for June 22, whereas Yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad.
For June 23, the Weather department issued an orange alert in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur are on Yellow alert.
Orange alert issued in Kannur and Kasargod and Yellow alert announced in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad for June 24.
The IMD has advised against fishing along the Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts till 23. "Squally weather with wind speed 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is likely to prevail," stated the IMD release.
