Kerala: Woman under treatment for food poisoning dies in Thrissur
Thiruvananthapuram: A 56-year-old woman, who was undergoing treatment for food poisoning after consuming "kuzhimanthi" at Perinjanam in Thrissur, died on Tuesday.
The body of the victim identified as Nusaiba, which was released to the relatives without conducting the post-mortem, was called back to Thrissur Medical College for a postmortem.
She developed food poisoning after consuming the Kuzhimanthi purchased from an eating outlet in Perinjanam on Saturday night. Over 180 people including the family members of Nusaiba were also admitted to various hospitals in the district following symptoms of food poisoning including vomiting, diarrhoea and nausea. Many of them were discharged later as their symptoms were not severe.
Food safety officials raided the food outlet and ordered its closure. The same hotel was closed six months ago for serving stale food. It was also reported that the hotel's license had expired a month ago.
