NEET Exam Controversy: Kerala CM Calls for Thorough Investigation

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has called the ongoing NEET 2024 controversy 'deeply concerning'.

The Chief Minister said that the reports of the malpractice are deeply concerning and also it would undermine the confidence in exam practices.

Pinarayi Vijayan wrote on X, saying that the Supreme Court's notice to the Centre and NTA over the NEET exam controversy highlights the gravity of the issue. Coming down heavily on the Central government, the Chief Minister said "The Centre, which centralized the entrance exams by abolishing state-level tests, must take this matter seriously."

"A thorough investigation is essential to address the students' and the public's genuine apprehensions," he added.

The Kerala CM called for all democratic and progressive forces in the country to unite inorder to ensure transparency and integrity in examinations of the nation.
The NEET UG 2024 exam was conducted on May 5 where 24 lakh students appeared for the exam at 4,750 centres. The results were declared on June 4. Aspirants raised many issues such as awarding grace marks to 1563 candidates, over 60 students scoring perfect score and also they alleged of paper leak.

The National Testing Agency told the Supreme Court that they will re-conduct National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Undergraduate (NEET UG) test for all the 1563 candidates on June 23.
