Rahul Says LDF-BJP Working Together To Prevent Congress-led UDF From Coming To Power In Kerala
Slams PM Modi's silence on Sabarimala gold theft

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi accused the CPM led Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the BJP of working together to stop the Congress-led UDF from coming to power in Kerala in the upcoming assembly elections.
Speaking at back-to-back rallies in Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts, Rahul claimed the BJP doesn’t want the UDF in power because they see Congress as the only force that challenges them across the country. “We have a fundamental ideological difference with the BJP and RSS. The BJP knows the Left Front can never challenge them at the national level. And as long as they hold power in Delhi, any Left government in Kerala remains under their control,” he said.
He said many wonder about proof of a secret understanding between the LDF and BJP. “Those who genuinely oppose the BJP face attacks, threats, and persecution. I myself have been attacked by them, have 36 cases filed against me, and was interrogated for 55 hours straight. The first sign of such an understanding is that the BJP has never targeted the Chief Minister of Kerala. Everyone knows the LDF leadership is corrupt, with cases pending against them, yet they face no interrogations or threats,” he said.
Rahul questions PM Modi’s silence on the Sabarimala gold theft issue
At a Pathanamthitta rally, he recited a Malayalam slogan related to the matter: “Swarnam Kattathu Arappa” (Who stole the gold?), sparking thunderous applause from the crowd.
While giving the second reason behind the alleged LDF-BJP secret pact, Rahul said that wherever the Prime Minister goes, he talks about temples and religion in every speech. But somehow, he has forgotten what happened in Sabarimala during his recent visit to Kerala.
“Modi seems to have overlooked the fact that Left leaders took gold from the Ayyappa temple and replaced it with brass. He stayed silent on the matter because he didn’t want to harm the CPM,” he said.
This, according to Rahul, shows two things: the BJP and LDF are working together, and Narendra Modi doesn’t genuinely care about Hinduism, religion, or temples. For him, if talking about temples wins votes, he will mention them; if protecting LDF’s interests is the priority, he will avoid talking about temples and religion.
“We don’t want to make big speeches, but I can give you one guarantee: if the UDF comes to power, we will ensure that all the criminals who stole gold from Sabarimala are punished,” Rahul said.
The Opposition Leader alleged that the CPM does not act like a Left party in Kerala, with policies and actions that are corporatist, much like the BJP. According to him, the LDF is no longer a Left entity but a corporate-backed and funded government.
The opposition leader also claimed that Narendra Modi is compromised and controlled by Donald Trump, and similarly, Modi controls Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He alleged that Modi is driven by corruption and the financial system, while Pinarayi is likewise influenced by his own corruption and financial issues.
Rahul said the five guarantees given by the UDF are aimed at empowering women, youth, the elderly, and Kerala society as a whole. The guarantees include free travel for women in Kerala State Road Transport Corporation buses, Rs 1000 financial assistance to college-going girl students, an increase in welfare pensions from 2000 to 3000, coverage of 25 lakh for each family under the Oommen Chandy health insurance policy, and interest-free loans of five lakh to the youth for starting their own ventures.
