Thief's Attempt To Burgle A House In Kerala Fails, Ends In A 10 Ft Deep Well

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A burglary attempt in Koilandy, Kozhikode district took an unexpected turn when the suspect fell into a well on the property.

The accused, 26-year-old Augustine Birla from Assam, reportedly tried to break into the home of Kunjabdulla at Nandi Bazar through the bathroom area. But during the attempt, the grill gave way, causing him to tumble into the well.

The incident was discovered in the morning when the homeowner’s wife heard strange noises and found the man clinging to a pipe inside the well. The family quickly informed the police and fire department.

A fire and rescue team from Koilandy quickly arrived at the scene and pulled the man out using a rescue net. The thief had fallen into a well about 10 feet deep but escaped without serious injuries.

He was taken into custody, and police have launched an investigation to determine if he had made similar attempts in the area before. A case has been registered in connection with the incident.
